“I could either watch it happen, or make it happen.”
The HTWK Smart Driving team is fully committed to developing software for autonomous vehicles. Since 2014, the team has been offering interested Master and Bachelor students at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences a platform to carry out current research work in the field of autonomous driving. Milestones of this work include the team’s successful participation in the Audi Autonomous Driving Cup 2015, 2016 and 2017, and the planning, design and operation of two fully automated experimental platforms in 2016 and 2017. The team attended various events like “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften”, “Lange Nacht der Computerspiele” or “Forum Recruiting for Mobility 4.0” as part of the RoboCup 2016 to publicly present the progress of the team’s work.
The team, which currently consists of Bachelor and Master students in computer science, works closely with other working groups of the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, such as the Leobots team, who develop autonomous robots for the Eurobot competition.
Special attention is paid to the exchange of knowledge between the individual team members throughout the work. That’s why this year we have a team consisting of three members of the AADC team 2017 and two new students. With this constellation we hope to productively enhance last year’s work and conquer the new tasks of this year’s AADC.
This year, the HTWK Smart Driving team will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Schwarz and Prof.
Dr. Bastian. Both are professors at the IMN faculty at the Leipzig University of Applied
Sciences and are highly committed to the field of robotics.
