Team Altar comes from a wide range of technology disciplines and countries. We are passionate about robotics, technology and big ideas.
Petar Kormushev is the director of the Robot Intelligence Lab at Imperial College London. He holds a PhD in Computational Intelligence from Tokyo Institute of Technology, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MSc in Bio- and Medical Informatics, and a BSc in Computer Science. His research focus is on reinforcement learning algorithms and their application to autonomous robots. His long-term goal is to create robots that can learn by themselves and adapt to dynamic environments. In addition to his scientific research, he has more than 7 years of working experience. In 2008, he worked at Google Japan for 3 months as a software engineer in the Search Quality team. He created a prototype of a new search query categorization system (which he called Google Genus) using machine learning algorithms.
