The participants of the Audi Autonomous Driving Cup each receive two model vehicles per team. The hardware platform, developed by Audi specifically for the contest, corresponds to a 1:8 scale replica of the Audi Q2. Below you will find technical details about the model cars.
The miniature Q2 is driven by a high-torque, brushless motor. It is controlled by a cruise control that allows controlled forward and reverse driving, as well as braking, in both directions, even at low speeds.
The steering is performed by a digital servo motor, which is also used in this form in model racing. It is characterized by a high actuating power at low operating times. This ensures a very precise and above all fast steering. A read-back of the set steering angle is no longer necessary due to the integrated control.
